Voices from Inside: Israelis Speak

Occupation Has No Future

During the weeks of December 5th and 12th , Salaam Shalom: Report on Palestine/Israel will air part 1 of “Voices from Inside: Israelis Speak,” a remarkable documentary directed by Lucy Martens and produced by Marjorie Wright. The film explores the political transformation and moral awakening of 16 Israeli Jews who broke ranks with the Zionist and militarist consensus in their society to become passionate advocates for an end to Israel’s settler-colonial occupation in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza. This edition will also feature a solidarity tribute to the Palestinian people produced by the Never Before Campaign, in honor of International Day in Solidarity with the Palestinian People (November 29); a summary of a report prepared jointly by Physicians for Human Rights in Israel and the Public Committee on Torture in Israel, which examines the role of Israeli doctors in abetting the torture and ill-treatment of Palestinian detainees; and a documentary by Defense of Children International-Palestine on the occupation of East Jerusalem and its impact on Palestinian children and families. It highlights findings from a new report released by DCI-Palestine called “Voices from East Jerusalem: The Situation of Palestinian Children.” We will air, too, a “virtual” field report prepared by Al Haq on the effects of Israel’s Separation Barrier and Jewish colonies in the West Bank, and a videotaped recording of Canadian-Palestinian spoken word artist Rafeef Ziadah reading her poem, “We Teach Life, Sir.”
